Who doesn’t love to sit down and relax in front of their favourite tv show or watch new and exciting movies? I know that I do.
Ever since a young age, I have been interested in TV shows and movies (I have my Mum to thank for that), and have always tried my best to watch a diverse range of content. As a lover of all things entertainment, I decided to create this blog so that I could talk about all the best TV shows and movies. As a proud Australian, my blog will also include information about Australian film and television.
I look forward to writing about all the movies and TV shows I watch and hearing about what my readers have been watching. My blog will have a diverse spread of posts to do with Australian film and TV, and international film and TV. Viewed, although mainly focusing on the latest in entertainment, will also have information on some of Hollywood’s oldest and greatest gems.
There will be posts about what TV show to watch when you’re sad (I’d definitely go for Friends or Offspring) or what movie to watch when you’re happy (Love Actually). I also hope to post the latest updates about when TV shows and movies intend to hit the screens, and whether you should wear waterproof mascara and carry a box of tissues!
I would love for all my readers to comment and/or send me an email with suggestions for what I should watch or talk about next. I can’t wait to share all my favourite movies and TV shows with you and discuss everything entertainment!
Do you ever find it overwhelming to choose one movie out of the thousands that are on Netflix?
I do. Sometimes I find that I sit down to have a relaxing night and all I do is take an hour to decide what movie to watch. After I finally choose, I watch five minutes and decide that it wasn’t what I wanted, and then I put on an episode from a show that I have watched more than ten times. It seems simple. Pick a movie, put it on and relax. Well, we all know that it isn’t like that.
So, after this happened to me a lot, I decided that I would find the perfect way to have a movie night without letting my indecisiveness get in the way. But, keep in mind that you have to be prepared.
1. Read an article or ask a friend about what movies you should watch, and why?
Asking friends can be beneficial, as they know you and know what you like.
2. Prepare your snacks for during the movie.
You may decide that you want to be healthy and make something at home or you might buy some lollies and popcorn. It’s up to you!
3. Make sure that you have everything you need at your fingertips.
If you want to eat popcorn during the movie then prepare it BEFORE. Make sure you have a full glass of (whatever you’re drinking) and find a comfy position, so you don’t have to get up.
4. Get into your comfy clothes.
Now, this may seem obvious, but it’s a mistake we all make. Sitting down and realising halfway through the movie that you’re not comfy is possibly one of the most annoying things EVER!
5. Make sure that you find a comfy spot on the couch.
This step is self-explanatory, but you can’t forget it!
6. Enjoy!
You can choose to binge TV shows instead, so don’t hesitate to ask your friends for those suggestions too!
FYI- This was one of the hardest posts that I’ve ever had to write! I have so many favourites, and hopefully, I get the opportunity to share the others with you later.
10. The Real
Housewives of Beverly Hills
I love to watch this show and see all of the girls go travelling and live their glamorous lives! If you’ve watched the last season, you will understand when I say that it can be sad, but then again, not all friendships can last forever.
This has to be my favourite Australian TV show! Nina (Asher Keddie) is one of the only characters on TV that we can all resonate with. If you haven’t watched it, then I highly recommend that you do, as it will have you crying with laughter.
I have to admit that I finished the last season of this show within a week and a half. Jane the Virgin is true to its telenovela style as things beyond belief happen to the characters. This show is also extremely important for Latino representation in the American film industry!
I found it very hard to choose one or the other, so I went
with both. These shows portray the life that we all wished to have lived as
teenagers. Once again, the plot lines are crazy, but that’s what keeps you hooked!
If you haven’t watched this show, then you need to stop what
you’re doing and go and watch it now. If you like mysteries, then this series
will keep you on the edge of your seat.
If you haven’t seen this show, then you’ve been living under
a rock (no offence)! There is nothing better than watching five best friends do
crazy things around New York.
Gilmore Girls is a show that you have to watch! It is filled with humour and teaches you about the importance of family (especially the relationship between Mother and Daughter).
Once again, I know these are two TV shows, but I can’t choose!
I think it is safe to say that Joss Whedon is a genius and he definitely shows
it in these witty supernatural TV shows.
Elizabeth Montgomery is amazing, which makes the show even
more magical then it already is! This is a childhood favourite of mine, and I
will continue to love it (and watch it) for the rest of my life.
Who doesn’t love Friends? I have watched the whole series more than three times, and I don’t get sick of it (that’s saying something). If you haven’t seen it before, then I insist that you go and binge it now!
As we all know, growing up can be fun, but at times it can
be challenging to figure out who you are. Many movies and TV shows make growing
up look easy and glamorous. But as we know, there are definitely those times
when you don’t want to leave the house and want to do nothing but watch TV in
your PJ’s and eat junk food. The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants
includes all these details while making teenage life look fun.
The Sisterhood of the
Travelling Pants was a favourite movie of mine as I grew up. As the movie
starts, we are introduced to the four best friends; Bridget (Blake Lively),
Tibby (Amber Tamblyn), Lena (Alexis Bledel), and Carmen (America Ferrera). The
besties are all due to go their separate ways for the summer, but before they
do, they go on a shopping spree where they discover the travelling pants.
Despite the girls being different shapes (also extremely important to show in a
teenage film), the jeans fit them all. This is of great mystery to the girls,
and they decide to buy the pants and send them to each other over the summer so
that they feel connected in some way.
Magic travelling pants doesn’t seem too accurate, but the experiences that the girls have are an accurate representation of being a teenager. Bridget, who loves soccer and goes to Mexico for a summer camp, is trying to cope with her Mother’s death. Lena has gone to visit relatives in Greece and innocently falls in love with a boy her family doesn’t like. Carmen, who as a young girl, dealt with her parents going through a divorce, has gone to South Carolina to meet her future step Mother and step siblings. And then there’s Tibby, who has been left at home with nothing to do but work at Walmart and make her documentary with her sick friend Bailey (Jenna Boyd).
Death, sickness, and divorce are usually things that are too
hard to portray in teen films. However, The
Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants, perfectly explores these issues and how
it is normal to experience them. Now, we can’t forget that this was a book
first, and Ann Brashares was the one who was brave enough to write about all
these real life issues in the first place. But in my opinion, it would’ve been
even harder to make it into a film that is entertaining and fun. However, as
social media grows, teenage life changes. To
All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is another favourite of mine that addresses
real life teenage issues. Read about it here: To
All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.
If you haven’t watched The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants, then I highly recommend that you do! It can be found on Australian Netflix and iTunes.
